Cookies
This snack is a delicious addition to various meals, often eaten by itself in the kitchen when we think nobody can see us. It is rich in essential sugars and fats, contributing to a sense of guilt and self-loathing after we eat just one more but actually finish the whole package.
This food item is served in various meal programs across NYC, including school meals, senior nutrition, shelter feeding, catering, and CACFP.
👨🍳 Chef's Tip: For optimal flavor and texture, lightly warm them in an oven or microwave to enhance its taste and texture before serving.
💡 Did you know? Cookie dough was originally eaten plain, until a chef attempted to sabotage his reality television rival's cookie dough by burning it. Instead, he inadvertently made it even better and discovered modern cookies, losing the 1837 competition (and the prize money) to his rival in the process. Fortunately, he now had lots of cookies to help drown the guilt.
🏙️ NYC Connection: In New York City, the home base for Sesame Street lives Cookie Monster, the first and only children's television character to be approved to portray the effects of cookie addiction to a young audience.
