Position Overview
Healthy Heart Foods is seeking a full-time Registered Dietitian to work on-site in our Brooklyn facility five days per week. This role is responsible for menu composition, nutritional compliance, and regulatory oversight across multiple institutional feeding programs, while also serving as a forward-facing nutrition representative with customer agencies and families.
The ideal candidate combines strong regulatory knowledge with clear, confident communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, review, and maintain menus that meet nutritional and regulatory requirements
Ensure compliance with applicable feeding program regulations, including:
CACFP (child and school feeding programs)
NSLP (National School Lunch Program)
DFTA (senior feeding programs)
DHS (homeless services and institutional feeding requirements)
Analyze menus for nutritional adequacy, portion compliance, and meal pattern standards
Collaborate closely with culinary, production, and operations teams to ensure menus are practical, scalable, and cost-effective
Serve as a nutrition-facing representative in meetings with customer agencies, addressing questions related to menus, compliance, and dietary needs
Respond to parent inquiries regarding ingredients, allergens, nutritional content, and child-specific dietary questions, in coordination with customer agencies as appropriate
Support documentation and recordkeeping for audits, inspections, and program reviews
Monitor regulatory updates and implement required changes
Assist with special diets, allergy accommodations, and nutrition-related concerns
Act as an internal nutrition resource across departments
Required Qualifications
Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential (active and in good standing)
Strong understanding of institutional and regulated food service programs
Familiarity with CACFP, NSLP, DFTA, and DHS nutrition standards (or demonstrated ability to learn quickly)
Ability to work on-site in Brooklyn five days per week
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual English/Spanish (a plus)
Experience in large-scale or high-volume food service operations
Experience working with public-sector or government-regulated meal programs
Comfort engaging with agencies, parents, and other external stakeholders
